Our History

For many years a group of young people had prayed for their city and discussed the possibility of a new church in Hinton.

In 2012, the seeds were planted for a vision to start a new church in downtown Hinton.

In partnership with First Baptist Church of Hinton and the
West Virginia Convention of Southern Baptists the church planting process began early 2013.

Our first Sunday gathering was at the Ritz Theatre on the morning of January 12, 2014.

September 2014 we moved our gatherings to Ethnê House on Sunday evenings and began a weekly prayer time and meal.

September 2015, we began meeting Sunday mornings at the Ritz Theatre and Sunday evenings at Ethnê House.

Our Essence

Our Purpose is to be centered on the gospel

by glorifying God, exalting Christ, and walking in the Spirit.

Our Identity is to be engaged in community.

by being a local gathering of authentic, interdependent, maturing disciples covenanted together in fellowship and practice to participate in faith family life.

Our Mission is to be sent out to our neighborhood and to the nations.

by submitting to Jesus’ authority to make disciples of all nations by going, baptizing, and teaching through the presence of the Holy Spirit.

Our Vision is to be a vibrant faith family

by being centered on the gospel, engaged in community and sent out on mission all for the global glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Our Beliefs

Our Confession

We provide the following doctrinal affirmations as a summary of our convictions. However, in keeping with the introduction to the BF&M 2000 we affirm that “the sole authority for faith and practice among Baptists is the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments. Confessions are only guides in interpretation, having no authority over the conscience.”

Our Commitments

In addition to a broad confession of faith, we believe it is necessary to further state our positions on two contemporary issues dealing with gender roles and inerrancy.

Our Values

Because our faith and practice is somewhat unique in our area we have listed out some of our values that help explain why we do what we do. We believe these values are derived from Scripture and they guide our decision making and practice.
