Elder Equipping

Raising up Pastors. Sending out Missionaries.

This is an indefinite training period for those who “desire the office of an overseer.” It will involve intentional development of the characteristics of elders listed in 1 Timothy and Titus, as well as instruction in the areas of expositional preaching and biblical counseling. The end goal is that those who go through this training would be instated by the congregation to lead us or to be sent out by us as a church planter or missionary.

We use these words interchangeably because we believe this is what the Bible does. Each word has a unique history and imagery attached to it. Combined they include qualities such as wisdom, administration, teaching, counseling and more. The best description of these qualities are found in Scripture. 

Elder Standards

This list is compiled from 1 Timothy and Titus. It will guide our congregation in elder training and selection. We do not believe these qualifications are like an academic degree that they can be attained then forever possessed. Instead, these characteristics must be maintained, cultivated, and developed.
