WHAT DOES ETHNÊ MEAN?
Eth-nê is the Greek word Matthew recorded Jesus using when commissioning the church to global mission. Usually translated “nation,” it is a word that means tribe, ethnic group or people.
Our world today has 7 billion individuals and 16,000 ethnê, or people groups, living in around 200 geo-political nations. Of those ethnê, more than 6,900 groups remain least-reached. This simply means they are a people group lacking an indigenous community of believing Christians with adequate numbers and resources to evangelize their own people group. This means 1 in 4 people still remain without reasonable access to the gospel!
WHAT GOES ON AT ETHNÊ HOUSE?
Strategically located in the heart of downtown, this building was the location of a bank for 90 years. Recently, the second and third floors have been converted into apartments. The first floor is used as a gathering location for the church as well as a community center for the town.Ethnê House has hosted several community meetings including Hinton Hope Foundation, the Humane Society, and Youth Opportunities. Also, Ethnê House hosted a New Years Eve party, several birthday parties, and a wedding!
